Luminar Neo: The Complete Course Lesson 99 – Luminar Neo Software Updates

This page will include any and all Luminar Neo updates and information about any changes to the software. They will be released onto YouTube on the Digital Photo Mentor channel and embedded onto this lesson page for your convenience as well.

The most recent update will appear at the top, while any past updates will be below on this page.

Luminar Neo Update 1.0.6

Update 1.0.6 includes:

Luminar Neo Update 1.0.6 brings a host of new functionality and feature requests we’ve all been waiting for! Histograms and BIG changes to the masking tools including Mask AI. Luminar Neo Update 1.0.6 adds a Linear gradient tool, a Radial gradient tool and FINALLY, the ability to copy and paste a mask from one tool to another. Also, the Histogram has been a long awaited feature (necessity) and is now finally included within update 1.0.6.

In regards to histograms, which is also now a usable size, clipping warnings are available now as well, and a keyboard shortcut for it is also been added.

Simply press “J” on your keyboard to show the clipping warnings. Also, where the histogram was NOT available in the Curves tool on Windows machines, it NOW IS.

Skylum had promised Mask AI would be inside Luminar Neo and it’s finally here! Now available for every tool is AI Mask, which works to find and select objects using AI masking technology. Mask AI can find things like the sky, humans, animals, flora, manmade ground, natural ground, paths, and more.

Using this new Mask AI (which is what they are calling it) you can really precise and edit selectively. So, if you’ve been waiting for Mask AI, make sure you get Luminar Neo and this update.

Luminar Neo Update 1.0.5

Update 1.0.5 includes:

  • Improvements to Presets
    • Access the Presets tab from the top menu bar.
    • See all of a preset’s built-in edits when applying it. Simply apply a preset and go to the Edits tab. You can then make adjustments to the applied edits as you please!
    • Save your own edits (including all applied edit tools, layers, and masking) as a custom preset for later use.
    • Use Undo and Redo when applying a Preset.
    • View Presets using the T keyboard shortcut (or by selecting View > Presets in the menu).
    • Use the Revert option on a Preset button (reverts a photo to the state it was in before entering the presets tab)
  • On top of that, enjoy an improved LUTs workflow in the Mood tool (added animations, a custom category, and the ability to remove LUTs from the popover).
  • Apply and use DCP files in the Develop RAW filter.
  • To top it all off, they’ve caught 7 bugs that could lead to unexpected results.
  • Mac OS changes:
    • Remove a Layer with the Delete shortcut. Also, you can export images in higher resolution in Luminar Share.
    • Smoothly delete images from Single Image Edits.
    • Make and undo edits without encountering the overlapped Discard Edits button.
    • Export an image via the Share menu in Luminar Neo, then smoothly use mirroring in Luminar Share.
    • Send high-resolution images via the share feature in iMessage.
  • Windows changes:
    • When applying a Preset, previously added Layers are reset as expected.
    • Better performance when reopening a previously edited image and applying tools.
    • When using Luminar Neo as a Photoshop or Lightroom plugin, the Cancel and Apply buttons are scaled according to the window size.

Luminar Neo Update 1.0.2

Update 1.0.2 available March 16th includes:

  • Distortion correction controls (added to Develop Raw). You can now adjust vertical and horizontal perspective as well as aspect ratio
  • Sliders are much more responsive and affect the image almost instantly
  • Copy and Paste adjustments (Sync) from photo to photo or batch copy
  • Add an entire folder of images
  • Ability to work with transparent images. This is a great addition to this Luminar Neo update if you’ve been wanting to work with logos or watermarks at the very least.
